Volvo is vehicle of choice for York Pullman Bus Company fleet expansion

One of the largest privately owned coach and bus operators in York has taken delivery of a new Volvo B8RLE bus to add to a fleet of more than 150.

Tom James, Managing Director of York Pullman Bus Company, said: "We have been a longstanding customer with 80 per cent of our large fleet being Volvo vehicles, so we had no hesitation in returning when we needed a new bus.

“Volvo had the availability, vehicle specification and seat number we were looking for at a competitive price, and the reliability we have come to expect from all our previous Volvos gives us complete confidence and peace of mind.”

The bus will be used on scheduled service work as well as school contracts in the area. The single deck bus, with MCV Evolution bodywork, will allow passengers to travel in comfort and get them to their destination safely. The B8RLE comes with three-point seat belts as standard, which is an very important feature especially when carrying school children.

Bob McGarry, Retail Bus and Coach Sales Manager for Volvo Bus, said: “We have been working with Tom at York Pullman for many years, with the majority of the company’s fleet now being Volvo.

“The B8RLE has a solid reputation, with many operators around the UK reporting great feedback on reliability of operation, fuel efficiency and the overall quality of the vehicle.

“We look forward to providing our vehicles to them for years to come and to continue being their supplier of choice.”

York Pullman Bus Company has a long heritage in York, serving local people as far back as the 1920s. The company provides a diverse range of transport and services including private hire, European tour work and school contracts.  York residents will be familiar with the traditional maroon and cream livery made famous by the Pullman railway carriages.
